In Loving Memory of [Lydia Moana Malina “Jackie”]

August 20, 1942 – February 27, 2026

Honolulu, Hawaiʻi

It is with deep love and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunty, and friend, who peacefully passed away on February 27, 2026, in Waimanalo, Hawaiʻi.

She was a talented artist from a young age, known for her beautiful oil paintings and creative spirit. Throughout her life she made a living creating one-of-a-kind, high-end Hawaiian arts and crafts, including dolls, ornaments, ceramics, and many other treasured pieces. Her work reflected her love for Hawaiʻi, culture, and creativity.

She was also a hardworking woman with a true green thumb, spending years working in landscaping at local nurseries where she nurtured both plants and friendships. Later in life, she retired from the City and County of Honolulu, where she continued to give back to the community as an attendant at the Waimānalo Gym and Recreation Center. There she welcomed families and helped support countless activities for the keiki of the community.

She was loving yet strong, generous yet firm — the kind of woman who kept her family grounded. She cherished her grandchildren and great-grandchildren above all else and was known lovingly to them as “Tutu.” She showed up for every important moment in her children’s lives and was always there when someone needed her.

She gave us her all, always.

She loved deeply, often carrying more than we knew in quiet strength, but she never stopped loving her family.

She was our rock, and the world will not be the same without her. Though our hearts are heavy, we find comfort knowing she is finally at peace — free from pain and suffering — resting in the loving arms of God.

She will forever live in our hearts and memories.

She is survived by her loving husband Calvin L. Malina, Sr., her children Calvin L. Malina Jr. (Bertha “Kui”)Belle M. Malina, and Carolyn L. Johnson (Jason); along with many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, one brother, and her two sisters.

Her love, strength, and spirit will continue to guide us always.

“E hoʻomaha me ka maluhia, e Mama. Mahalo nui. Aloha makou ia oe.

(Rest in peace, Mama. Thank you very much. We love you.)
