Vagi Foa’i Vasai 

Passed away on June 9, 2024. He was born in American Samoa on January 26, 1950 to Talaleu Vasai-Fa’apouli. He was raised by his Grandparents, Saeni and Foa’i Vasai in the village of Aua, American Samoa.

He was a retired U.S. Marine who served his country for 23 years. His service in the military included 2 deployments in the Gulf War. Following retirement in Hawaii in 1994, his life of service continued as a devoted member and church worker at Vista Samoan Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) Church in California. He served as the Head Elder for more than 40 years at Honolulu Central SDA Church then at Kapolei Samoa-Tonga SDA Church where he led, mentored and served faithfully. 

Vagi was survived by his daughters Regina Samatua and Sarah Bernard, Sons in-law, Chaco Samatua and Wayne Bernard and Grandchildren, Isley, Pastor Matthias, Misael, Tayler, Madelyn, Jordyn, Lincoln and Melody. 

A funeral service will be held in his honor on Sunday, June 23, 2024, 4pm at Kapolei Samoa-Tonga SDA Church. Burial will be held on Monday, June 24, 2024, 8:15am at Punchbowl National Cemetery.
